So during the Edinburgh Festival a Lady Suncat named Carli ( kali?! ) came over to this fair city on the travels of her Project Wings.
I met her and her strength, honesty, passion and beauty reminded me of the tale of the white hart, an old story about a white stag. In this story the stag gives of itself so selflessly that hunters lay down their spears in awe.
It is said that eating the heart of the hart will bring eternal life.....
SO....... i played shruti box, dolcimer, sang and spoke whilst Carli and some others danced and silently acted out the tale i told. Carli played the part of the hart.
ANd it all happened in a circle of candles at the forest cafe .

This was the tale...........

D e a r H u n t .

1.
It begins with an old tale.
Deep in the dark woods there is a spiral of mystery, a circle of living energy untouched by the minds of men.
Trees grew themselves, the forest ate itself and lived...forever...
In amongst this ancient place we find our space and meet our first face.
The antlers are a crown.
The antlers are like the branches of a tree.
As if the forest itself had crowned our King.
The King, the Stag, the Christ. We have him.

He is the King, but there is one fairer than he,
She............
.....................is the white heart.

She comes from deeper within, from Him and before Him

She is the hunter of hunters
ANd when she finds them, her beauty, truth and power
cleanses the hearts and minds of the men that chase her
they lay down their spears, lay down their angry thoughts
and she
setting them free
dances wild divine back into the trees that know and love her.
Back into the places known unto her
back into the places no one else can see

2.

A merchant has heard of her.

He is wise, and therefore a fool, and desires her above all else in his mind.

He thinks he sees her in his dreams, in his visions, he decides she is the one for him and he growls with hunger.
He rages and twists up inside, and his desire bcomes dark, wet, and hot.

He goes to the market and finds a hunter.
He will draw her to him.

He picks his stag and sets sail into the old groves of ancient woodland...

3.
The hunter sets a trap
humble stupid man
full of pride and tradition
he sets a trap

ANd they wait.......

4.
She comes, and knows her fate.

She chooses, not them.

She is bold and sees the look in the merchants eyes,
walks up to the hunter
-and he-
-cannot-

-he can not-

and she forgives him

5.
he has the knife, in his pocket, pushing,
our merchant is hungry for her taste, her blood, he wants to cut, push, open, penetrate and......

They walk, slowly, to face each other.

He thinks, ...if he can just...if he can...just....he will...live...forever....
but she is not there.

Only himself.

She is gone.

6.
Our tale begins somewhere far away
but is not that expanse truely an inward journey
when she is far away
where are we looking?

Open up
open out
open your eyes and look
open your eyes and see where you are

for the journey begins and ends with you.

Look at yourself

and realise

show your self to your self and accept what you see.

THIS is when it becomes a silent journey
from here on in

come out.

Everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Parts were relevant, insightfull, challenging and fun.

SO now everything is in place. The project ready to be put into action. By setting myself up as being self employed i secured a thousand pounds through the business gateway to help get me started.
I hope to receive that very soon and can invest in some things that will benefit. I'm really happy to give advice about becoming a self employed sole trader, just email me.

Voices.

Project Summary:

Bringing together a group of strangers from different backgrounds, and artists from the community to create pieces of drama and art. This will involve an initial enquiry into the opinions of the public on a number of powerful topics.
Then, once the group is created, we will work through a series of workshops, and will culminate in an event that can tour a variety of venues. The event will include a multi-media presentation, performances, and an audience based discussion.
This will begin and once complete, the project will be able to perform at independent venues, schools, colleges, prisons, centres etc.

Everything that occurs will be recorded and archived through a variety of mediums.
We plan to use this project and future projects to flagship the opportunities other socially responsible individuals share, and to show help and encourage them to also start being communally active.

The aim of the project:

To narrow the gaps amongst people and build trust, understanding and confidence between different sections of the Edinburgh community through art and performance.
To offer a variety of opinions in a creative way that currently circulate and have effect in our community.
To really get a feel of what is going on amongst the people and raise awareness of where we all are in relation to each other.
To develop relationships within the community that can be utilised in future projects, and start to become a “well known face” amongst the people.

Details of Project:

Every day we hear the views voices and opinions of politicians, the media and of advertising; but what are the people actually saying and thinking themselves?
How do these people feel?
What do they think about each other and the places that they live?
What does life mean to them?
-does the community feel divided or united?
-can we find ways to make things better?
what do they know of their world?
and how do they identify with it?
what is that they want to do? -and what is their future?

before the workshops begin we will make contact and travel around all manner of places in search of conversations;-to basically listen and ask a series of questions to as many people as we can, from ALL walks of life. All of this will be documented and photographed where possible, as this is an integral part of the project and the final event. The interviews will be collaged into 7 books, each of 20 pages.

Whilst interacting with the community, we will gather together some individuals prepared to work on a voluntary basis within this project.
The group will number 7 people, of both sexes. Their ages will be from 16 to 70. They will recieve a book of collective collage each, and intepret the work through their art.
We aim to build an artistic group that shows and offers an interesting insight into what our community is saying.

Using drama and the creative process that it generates we can Work collaboratively to produce artistic pieces that represent the collected opinions of many different types of people, with 7 individuals who come from a broad range of backgrounds acting as spokesperson for the social “category” they appear to fit into. These people could be seen as speaking for their “part” of the community.

i want to organise an event here, one that can go to other places.....

THE FUTURE : OUR CHILDREN.

An event bringing awareness to the need for our first concern to be our children : that when we speak of the future of our children, we speak not only of jobs and house security, we speak of the state of the planet they inherit, the mentality of our civilisation, the life they are being raised into....so many things are woven into the future of our kids. Obviousley, we want no wars for them, no pollution, we want them to be raised with Love and understanding, to feel as though they are supported and belong. They are the next community, the next world work force, the future is theirs, and we must try to make it as bright as we can. The celebration of this sentiment is the purpose of this event, and all are welcome to show solidarity and support by attending, joining in and being involved.
Simply put, it is an event to celebrate the love we have for our children, and the hope that the world will give them a good and peacefull life.
The event has more targetted ambitions : to highlight the good work of mothers, parents and the groups they empower themselves in, and to encourage the well being of spilsby theatre, a center of creativity in the heart of Lincoln.

I have the idea to try and take this event to different places, to bring the same message into different communities. We'll see how the first one goes.........

So this is me plugging in as an ethical artist. A peacefull thinker.
A patient observer.

I began by just wanting to help my community grow for the better, and now i am finding ways to do that...practical, real solutions,.....in myself.....but mostly; in us.

I find It takes alot of courage to believe that everything is going to be ok. And to then act in that direction--that we can or could make things better, solve this worlds problems, this lifes struggles. To move and make foundation shaking shifts into a better life.
i believe we can do it.
And i know it can be a struggle.
But we must banish the word struggle from our vocabulary.
At least, i must.

i am banishing struggle from my vocabulary. For it must be a joy.
A peace.
A healing.

To live, and then die, must be a blessing.

I am trying to do something with my blessing, and i am glad i am not alone, not the only one.

You are with me.
And i can believe in you.
If i can understand you, i will see you.
That is what i believe in.

Sometimes believing is seeing.

I have a daughter.

Mae.

She is 3.

I want to secure lots of things for her.
I'm willing to work harder than ever before so that the life she grows up into will be full of courage, laughter, honesty and healing.

I'm motivated by simple things.

But have lived a complicated life.

I want to do more than i can sometimes.

This is why i'm glad You are there.

You see the things i don't.

Sometimes we see the same things.

I love words. And gardens. And listening, even to the silence of sunshine.
Listening with my heart.

I would love us to wrap in blankets round the fireplace to listen to our elders tell stories in winter. I would love to live in a way that consciously recognised the solutions to all the problems of this world -- - they are staring us in the face! - Really clear.
We know the answers...they are simple,....it's just we try to create such complicated questions.
Clean water, clean air, no wars. Good fresh food, respect for all life, respect for ourselves and meaningfull endevour. Honesty, charity, and the acceptance that we make mistakes. Everyone, all of us.

As my Gran would say: " you've got to know the tiger to tame it "

i would love to see us sharing more. Raising our new generation not by word but by deed.
We have so much potential.

If we have the chance, we can make it.

i work to four principles.

1--advice to individuals and groups.
Contacts, networking and
support as groups/individuals/projects
set themselves up.

3--contracted work to run workshops
or events at functions or for

4—the creation of our own workshops,
projects, fund raising, events etc.

Every individual carries
with them skills or knowledge that is of
benefit in some way to others in their community.
People come together to offer knowledge

empower all. Togethor our topics range from holistic
parenting to setting up an ethical business.
We all want to help.
Let us help each other.
We may hold the keys to each other.
Perhaps we unlock as we share.

2.(ESTABLISH)
Delokiii seeks to develop
by volunteering our able bodies,
events, workshops, art,
and performances to other projects
and people of a like-minded nature.
It is important to us that we collaborate
and co-operate with other movements
rather than compete, creating a more
responsible environment in which social
solutions are being formed collectively,
and progress is made for the benefit of all.
Voluntary work also increases our
experience and skills, and brings us all
closer together. Furthermore, it shows
what we are capable of and increases our
reputation and credibility.

3.(EMPLOY)
Delokiii is capable of being
paid to work for organizations and events,
offering its services at sensible rates,
entirely dependent on how much a group
can afford. Contracts can last a week, a few
months or even a year or two. We create
our own programmes for events, workshops
and performance. We happily work with others
under contract on the same project.

4.(ENGAGE)
We all have ideas on how
to help our community, how to respond to
its needs and problems. Practical and
creative projects are created and realised
through Delokiii. Personal projects
can make us pioneers in
ethical social entrepreneurship,
encouraging others by example.
This independent aspect of our focus can
lead us to working with those who cannot
afford our type of service or access this
type of experience. It also means we are
not limited by any critera other than our
own!

Basically:
I want us to do the Good things we can do, and know they have purpose.

Home sweet home.

At home i have been trying to organise a way of uniting my neighbours in recycling. I made a proposal and recieved some money. I turned what was a dump into a recycling area, -soon to have compost bins, an incinerator, and to be sculpted into a beautifull rockery wildlife haven.
Here's some pictures of the all so far......

And here is my most recent letter to my neihbourhood.....

hello! I am proud to unveil the all new recycling area (not entirely finished ) which will be christened :
the almond R.I.V.E.R project
River Standing for:
Recycling-Is-Very-Easy-Really.
So from here on in I shall explain…. There is a brand new shed to keep all our recycling in…open the left hand door and you will see a light blue box, a darker blue box and a red box. These combine to offer you thus:

Light blue
Has the blue plastic bags that can be filled with paper.
Dark blue.
Welcomes your cans and glass.
Red.
Will take card, cardboard, cardboard drinks cartons and cereal boxes

Behind the right hand door lies the store for the red and blue boxes. Also found here are the rain covers.
Whenever you fill a box I hope you will put a rain cover on it, and stack it in the “to-go” pile located to the left of the shed.

We still don’t quite have a consistent kerbside collection via the council van due to the road often being obstructed by builders and their vehicles.
So its up to us to get the boxes down to the end of the lane, where we turn into the field.
I am still happy to run these down every Thursday eve, but if anyone else sees a box on a Thursday and wishes to drive or walk it down then please feel free to do so.
Collection datesto follow, I have sent off for the timetable and will laminate it and pin it up in the shed itself.

PLASTIC FANTASTIC.
The only thing the kerbside pickups don’t do is take our plastic. So a secret bin can be found (with lid) to the left of the shed, behind the To-Go boxes.
Please feel free to put you plastic bottles and such like in this bin and I will walk it up to the recycling bin that lives up behind the playground.

As for the rest of that site…
It will take time but I still hope to birth that area as a wildlife and plant area…I hope anyone interested in helping with this will communicate to me via a phone call or text message, or by popping round for a cup of tea.
I don’t just want it to be an overly strimmed area of nothing much.(except mess!) A few pots and some stones and wood, some bags of compost….and it could become an attractive part of our small world.
It WILL take time, but will also be so worthwhile.

If anyone has any old paving slabs I can set up a rat proof compost bin, if we think we might use it. It is there, either way, so we may as well use it.

I love plants. And stones. And bugs. And birds. I love them. And river banks and sunshine and manure and bean poles and chickens and comfrey.All of those bits of nature. Love.
So i would love to be remembered as a gardener.
It is where my heart is.
With the trees. With the sky.

I love the ways things grow. You really only get to know land after a number of years. It is an important relationship, for me, to have.

It is an endlessly changing universe/bush/pea.

Community regeneration.

Creating better understanding.
Taking time to understand ourselves as well as others.

It begins with you.

We do belong here, together, at the same time.
On this planet -each and everyone of us- this is the home we share.

Community arts from community hearts.

Reaching inside and communicating.

The language of laughter, of tears, hardship, struggle,
of pain, regrets,
of shadows, fears.......mistakes.

And of love.
The courage of freedom.
